Massage Therapy

A gentle, hands-on approach to therapy.

Sea Girt Spine and Rehabilitation for Wall Township NJ and surrounding areas takes a unique view of the rehabilitation process. Instead of simply treating specific symptoms—back pain, for example—our office looks at the whole patient and treats the body as a total, interconnected system. In this light, we have very deliberately created a rehabilitation office that includes a variety of treatment options – chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, and massage therapy—to ensure that each patient’s needs are met on a fully holistic level.

Massage therapy is offered at Sea Girt Spine and Rehabilitation for a number of very good reasons. The deep tissue massage in our office works to enhance the benefits of chiropractic care and physical therapy.

What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue is a type of massage that concentrates on bands of painful and rigid tissue (adhesions) that are linked to chronic muscle tension and/or injury. Such adhesions are responsible for causing pain, inflammation, blocked circulation, and limited mobility.

Deep tissue massage works to alleviate these adhesions in order to reduce pain and re-establish normal movement. It works gradually, beginning gently on the surface of troublesome areas and then working deeper into underlying tissues. Massage therapists relax the tissues by using their fingers, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms.

Massage and Chiropractic: Working Together in Sea Girt, NJ

Chiropractic care and massage therapy are complementary services; both types of care are enhanced when used in conjunction as part of a plan of rehabilitation. In particular, massage therapy is extremely beneficial to patients receiving chiropractic care. In some cases, tight muscles caused by extreme muscle tension can distort the healthy alignment of the spine. Massage therapy also works to stabilize the spine.

Another benefit of massage is the stimulation of normal, healthy circulation. Proper circulation is an essential element in the body’s healing process; it can also help with the correct flow of nerve impulses for reduced pain.

Massage therapy is often used before chiropractic adjustments. This is done specifically in order to warm the soft tissues and make the joints more pliable for manipulation.

Massage Therapy for Wall and Manasquan New Jersey Low Back Pain Sufferers

Massage Therapy is often used for low back pain sufferers, regardless of the specific cause of pain. By increasing circulation to the muscles in the lower back, inflammation (and therefore pain) can be decreased. This treatment also helps to increase movement in the lower back by loosening tension in the muscles for better flexibility. Additionally, when used with chiropractic care, massage therapy can help prepare the body for adjustment.

At Sea Girt Spine and Rehabilitation, our dedication to providing the very best recovery and wellness programs means that we have sought out practitioners with extensive experience, compassion, and enthusiasm.
